Ordering at Mountain Blue Orchards

The following information sets out in writing the time frame within which we need to work, regarding the order and delivery of blueberry plants from our nursery. The length of time which it takes from order to delivery depends very much on the the seasonal conditions and the variety, with some varieties propagating relatively quickly, and growing away quickly, (for example Biloxi) whilst other varieties take much longer to grow roots and to grow away (Climax and Premier).

However, the other factor that is of prime importance is indeed the timing of the order. The following is a guide as to when plants need to be ordered to ensure delivery at the appropriate time.

1. For early spring (August-mid October) … the plants need to be ordered by mid November, so that they can be propagated in December, then potted up in February and March. The young plants will then be able to grow roots in autumn and late winter, before a flush of vegetative growth in August and early September.

2. For late spring / early summer (late October - December) … the order for these plants may be delayed until January of that year, with plants being propagated in January and February, over-wintered in the trays, and then potted in August and September for deliver from late October.

3. For Late Summer delivery (January - February) …. The order for these plants should best be made in the previous January - February period, 12 months prior. These plants would then be propagated in autumn, and then grown on during the following Spring - summer months, ready for planting. Particularly for hard to propagate plants this time frame is essential.

4. For Late Autumn delivery (March to May) …. For some of the easier to root varieties, it is possible to order them in spring for delivery in late autumn, however, this is very dependant on the order being early enough for the plants to be struck by the middle of October, when the new flush hardens enough, and the varieties being relatively easy to root, and grow on.

There can be no guarantees that this timing will always work, however, it is an option that is worth trying if plants are required quickly to re-develop an area, or develop a new area, at shorter notice than usual.

With these dates in mind I trust that the ordering and delivery procedures can be co-ordinated between us.

A wholesale price list is available by clicking on to 'Current Pricelist'. Quantity discounts may apply in the case of large orders but will require deposits to accompany the order as set out below. Where plants are immediately available in stock, payment must be made cash on delivery, unless other arrangements have been made.

For commercial orders that require special propagation and which are not immediately available from stock, the following schedule of payments is required. The plants may be inspected at any time in their required containers. The customer may designate the shipping method and carrier that is preferred.
